Who is Fanaka Nation?
Fanaka Nation: Rapper, spoken word artist, dancer, based in Minneapolis, MN USA.
Fanaka Nation calls his style of music Culture Rap: a fusion of rap, African and other world sounds. It’s influenced by his American/African/Asian heritage and experiences that come with it. Just like only a “gansta” rapper can pour out firsthand lived “hood” experiences, only Fanaka Nation can narrate his triple- identity upbringing by parents from two different continents (Africa and Asia) and growing up on a third (America).
Fanaka Nation Live
When you attend a Fanaka Nation concert, you get a live-on-stage story told through Fanaka Nation’s multicultural experiences. It is lyrical dexterity, storytelling, stage presence, explosive martial arts-inspired dance, and continuous audience interaction. All wrapped in one. “It’s a cultural experience,” says Fanaka Nation.
Fanaka Nation has performed at popular venues around the Minneapolis-St Paul metropolis including Cedar Cultural Center, First Avenue (7th St entry), Fine Line Music Café, Nomad World Pub, Blue Nile, Minnesota State Fair grandstand, Bedlam Lowertown Theater, Indigenous Roots Center, and others. Festival appearances include Live On The Drive, Bayfront Reggae Festival, Little Africa Festival, Open streets, and Pizza Luce block party.
